The Fireside Lounge

1453 Webster St, Alameda, CA 94501

The Fireside Lounge sits in Alameda’s West End, in the stretch of Webster Street that has a bunch of small restaurants, cafes, and bars clustered together. Inside, it feels like a laid‑back neighborhood bar that also happens to host a lot of events. There is a real fireplace that people tend to gravitate toward on cooler nights, and the main bar area is anchored by an old art deco barback.

Seating is a mix of bar stools, small tables, and a few spots where people camp out with board games or just hang and talk before the music starts. On busier nights, expect a line at the bar and a louder room once the sound system gets going.

Most nights have something structured going on. Early in the week there is live trivia and a singer songwriter open mic, so it skews more local-regulars and folks just grabbing a drink after work. As it rolls into the weekend, the place shifts into a small live venue and dance bar, with DJs or live bands from around the Bay Area. Recent calendars include electronic live-PA nights like DISCOU with drum machines and synths, live podcast tapings with drink tastings, and genre-specific DJ events that lean into deathrock, gothic rock, post punk, and Rock en Español. It is 21 and over, and most of the late events run until around 1 or 2 in the morning.

The bar opened in 1942 and still leans into that older lounge feel, especially around the original art deco bar and the fireplace. It is currently woman owned, and a lot of the programming is tied into the local arts scene, with rotating gallery shows on the walls and a steady flow of local DJs, bands, and performance events.
