I'm Amy Suto — bestselling author of theromantasy novel The Ash Trials, former TV writer, and the person behind Make Writing Your Job (a top-25 Substack with 30,000+ subscribers). I'm teaching a free class at the Love Potion Library onJune 2ndfrom 7–8:30pm, and I'd love for you to come.
Here's the thing: I spent years writing for TV before I wrote my first romance novel, and it completely changed how I approach storytelling. Screenwriting gave me tools that made my fiction more cinematic, more propulsive, more readable — and I want to share those same techniques with you.
This class is for romance writers (or aspiring ones!) who want their stories to feel like the reader is watching a movie in their head. We'll cover how to use TV storytelling structures to organize your novel, build tension, and keep readers turning pages.
Here's how the night will go: we'll kick things off with introductions — you'll get to share what you're working on or what kind of writing you do (or are interested in doing!) — and then we'll jump into the presentation. Throughout, there will be some writing exercises, so bring a notebook or some paper. We'll wrap up with Q&A.
Whether you're drafting your first chapter or stuck somewhere in the middle, I think you'll walk away with something useful.
