Reimagining Creative Work in the Age of AI w/ Emmett Shine

June 9, 2026 at San Francisco in SF, CA

New tools don't just speed up old work. In the right hands, they push boundaries and open a door to what didn’t exist before. Stranger, sharper, more specific. More human, not less. What can you make now that you couldn't a year ago? What happens when AI is thoughtfully integrated in the design process, not just used as a research tool? And since everyone is talking about taste, yes we’ll talk about that too. Emmett Shine has been sitting with these questions (and experimented the crap out of them.) On this SF Design Week, Emmett will walk us through how he has pushed his creative work with AI, reshaped his studio’s process, share some recent case studies and talk about his point of view on brand & creativity in the age of AI. 🤓 What you'll takeaway: A clearer picture of what AI-native creative work actually looks like in practice, beyond the demo-reel hype Specific examples from Emmett's recent client work showing where AI changed the output, not just the speed A working point of view on how taste functions when using AI tools Prompts and process shifts you can test in your own work next week New points of view on where the field is heading, useful whether you're leading a team, running a studio, or rethinking your own practice 🖼️ The Experience Pre-event comms: Attendees who want to meet new folks will self-select in the RSVP and receive a “who’s gonna be there” write up Fuel up & connect: Through curated prompts, attendees will connect and chat over light snacks Learn: Presentation by Emmett Q&A: Open floor questions for Emmett Connect deeper: More time for attendees to discuss learnings and keep in touch 🎨 Who is Emmett? Emmett Shine is the founder of Little Plains, a digital design, UX, and brand strategy studio in New York City. The studio is AI-native and practitioner-led, working primarily with early-stage startups. Prior to that, Emmett co-founded Gin Lane (design agency that created some of the most well known DTC brands) and Pattern Brands (a portfolio of category-leading home brands), helped launch 50 brands, and has been a part of 7 successful exits. His work in brand is featured as a Harvard Business School case study. Brought to market: Harrys, Hims, Hers, Stadium Goods, Neuralink, AYR, Sunday Goods, Cedar, Hello Alfred, Recess, 365 by Whole Foods, Made Nice, Cadre, Company, Taika, Haus, Alma, Smile Direct Club, Dia & Co., Open Spaces Supported in early stage growth: Sweetgreen, Warby Parker, Everlane, Quip, Shinola, Bonobos, Reformation, Shake Shack, Tartine, Coffee Manufactory, Honest Buildings, Go Get ‘Em Tiger Advisor of: Care/Of (acq. San Francisco as a “venue” usually means the event could be in a private dining room, a historic building, or a coworking or gallery-style space somewhere in the city. Tech and founder dinners like the Junto series often use private clubs or reservation-only restaurants, with multi-course meals at shared tables and a set program. Larger mixers such as SF Climate Week happy hours tend to be in central locations with structured check-in, name badges, sponsor signage, and access to nearby paid parking garages, especially around corridors like Van Ness and downtown. more...
