Howard Wiley returns to Mr. Tipple’s Recording Studio for a special Juneteenth celebration, honoring the holiday with the music that has always carried the story of Black American freedom — blues, gospel, funk, soul, and jazz. A Berkeley native shaped by the church and the Bay Area scene, Wiley is a musician who, in journalist Drew Foxman’s words, “understands his place not only in an ensemble, but in the history of music” — and there is no better occasion than Juneteenth to feel that history come alive on the bandstand.

It is a compact, low-lit space with a small stage, tightly packed tables, and a long bar that runs along one side.
