1344 Park St, Alameda, CA 94501, USA
On Wednesday October 14, three local Alameda businesses are supporting our school fundraising, with a Shop & Support day! Please spend a day on Park Street for some 'Books, Bites & Scoops'! A % of sales that day will support our school fundraiser. Books Inc - ALL day Tomatina - ALL day (but please reference our school - TCU/MEISA) Tucker's Ice Cream - 3.30-5.30pm Our main event will be hosted at Books Inc from 5:00–7:30 p.m. and co-hosted by the school, MEISA, and the San Francisco Coalition of Essential Small Schools (SF-CESS). We hope that you can join us! The evening will feature a short student musical performance, followed by a talk and Q&A on the Montessori elementary and middle school curriculum, with a focus on “Montessori and Social Justice”. The evening will then transition into an interactive session facilitated by SF-CESS, with opportunities for meaningful community dialogue and engagement using Personalization Cards. The goal is to create space for people to come to the table, listen to one another, and explore how we can come together as a community. We are very excited to bring together families, educators, local businesses, and community members for what we hope will be a meaningful and inspiring evening. Books Inc. in Alameda sits on the main Park Street stretch, mixed in with restaurants, bars, and small shops, so it is easy to pair an event with food or a drink nearby. Inside, it feels like a straightforward neighborhood bookstore: bright lighting, tall shelves, and clear sections for fiction, non-fiction, and kids’ books. There is usually background music at a low volume and enough space to browse without feeling cramped. more...
