Breathing Room Alameda is a neighborhood yoga studio and community rental space on Lincoln Avenue in central Alameda, surrounded by small shops and places to grab food or a drink before or after class. The main studio is open and light-filled, with wood floors, plants, and typical yoga props like blocks, bolsters, and blankets stacked in cubbies. Regular classes are capped at around two dozen people, so it does not feel crowded, and there is a check-in area near the entrance where visitors can sort out passes or drop-in payments.

Most people bring their own mat, but there are a few rentals and shared props that students clean and return to a “used” section after class.
The schedule leans heavily toward yoga and slow movement, with a mix of weekly classes and special events. On a typical week there might be vinyasa or “soul flow” in the mornings, prenatal yoga on Friday afternoons, and occasional evening offerings like yin yoga combined with a sound bath. There are also dedicated sound bath events with teachers who specialize in that kind of session, so it is common to see a room of people lying in savasana while gongs or singing bowls play. The studio runs many classes in a hybrid format, so some students join by Zoom while others are in the room.
The space can also be rented for workshops, community gatherings, and small events, with a listed capacity of up to about 50 people when it is set up for that purpose. Breathing Room grew out of the former Leela Yoga community and took on its current name and ownership around late 2019 and early 2020, when the new team renovated the interior and shifted into a mix of online and in-person use.
