Join us for A is for Afrofuturism Family Storytime at the West Oakland Branch Library with Isis Asare, founder of Sistah Scifi Bookstore, and Angela Dalton, local children's book author.
This special family storytime celebrates Afrofuturism, imagination, and the power of stories for young readers and their families. Together, we’ll share joyful, inspiring books and create space for community, curiosity, and connection.
Come join us for an uplifting community event centered on books, wonder, and Black futures.
All kids are welcome with grownup participation. Stay after for our usual 30-minute free play time.

West Oakland Job Resource Center sits in the middle of West Oakland’s neighborhood activity, in the same building as the West Oakland Branch Library across from DeFremery Park. The job center offices are on the second floor, in room 211, so visitors coming for an event should plan on going upstairs rather than into a storefront space.
