Ira Jinkins Community Center sits in East Oakland’s Brookfield neighborhood, next to the larger sports and aquatics complex and Ira Jinkins Park. It is a straightforward city recreation center with a big indoor gym, a couple of meeting rooms, a stage area, and a lobby that often has kids and families coming and going for programs. Outside, there are ball fields, tennis courts, a play structure, picnic spots with grills, and a parking lot that usually handles event traffic without much trouble. more...
