Oakland Arena

7000 S Coliseum Wy, Oakland, CA 94621, USA

Oakland Arena sits in the Coliseum complex in East Oakland, right next to the stadium and the Coliseum BART station. It is a large indoor arena used mainly for concerts and touring shows, with a capacity of around 19,000 depending on the stage setup. The interior is a standard bowl layout with lower and upper levels and a floor that is often turned into a general admission or seated area for big tours.

Food and drink options ring the concourses, with the usual mix of arena snacks, beer, and a few local touches that change over time. Sightlines are generally clear from most sections, though the upper corners can feel far from the stage.

Most people either take BART to Coliseum and walk across the pedestrian bridge into the complex or drive and use the huge surface parking lots that serve both the arena and the stadium. Traffic can back up before and after big shows, so entry and exit by car can take a while when tours like Romeo Santos & Prince Royce’s Mejor Tarde Que Nunca run or when someone like Ariana Grande is in town. Security screening at the doors is straightforward metal detector and bag check, and the arena follows the typical clear bag and prohibited items rules that larger venues use now.

The building has been around since the 1960s and was known for years as Oracle Arena during the Golden State Warriors era. It opened in 1966, was heavily renovated in the late 1990s, and has been used for everything from NBA Finals games to major touring acts. Inside, a “Legacy” display on the main concourse highlights some of the athletes and performers that have come through over the decades, which gives the place more of a long-running, multi-use feel than a brand-new concert box.
