Ollie Dudek’s Jazz Odyssey comes to the Dawn Club — a San Francisco Bay Area native and second-generation jazz bassist with a BA in Jazz Studies from the California Jazz Conservatory, Ollie has studied and performed in New Orleans, New York, Cuba, and Brazil, bringing a rich, globe-spanning musical perspective to everything he plays. A bandleader, sideman, and recording artist, his most recent album Flight of Life: Scenic Route Trio features all original compositions — making this an evening of adventurous, deeply rooted jazz from one of the Bay Area’s most well-traveled young bassists.

Dawn Club is a downtown SF jazz spot tucked off Market near the Palace Hotel, on a short alley that feels a little removed from the main streets. Inside is a single art deco-style room with a small raised stage at one end, table seating through the middle, and a long bar along the side. Lighting is low, sound is focused on the stage, and the room fills up on band nights, especially on Fridays when groups like Fog City Swing are on the schedule. more...
