Pink & Rind: Provençal Rosé + Cheese Pairings

Provencal rosé and cheese have been enjoyed together in the South of France for centuries. This style of rosé has the freshness and acidity you want with creamy, salty cheeses, but often enough texture, fruit, and savory character to stand up to firmer, funkier styles too. We’re going to explore them all.
We’ll start with a pair of easy-drinking, classic vin gris, move into two more serious, structured Bandols, then finish with Clos Cibonne’s cult-favorite Tibouren, one of the most distinctive rosés in Provence, and really the world. Each style of wine will be paired with a different cheese to show just how differently rosé can behave.

Vintage Berkeley on Vine Street is a small neighborhood wine shop in North Berkeley, a short walk from the cluster of restaurants and cafes often called the Gourmet Ghetto. The space is compact and straightforward, with shelves of bottles organized by region and style and a small counter where staff talk through picks or pour tastes during events.
