Caring for Yourself While Caring for Others: A workshop for current and future caregivers

In this workshop, participants will find support and guidance for navigating the emotional challenges of caring for loved ones who are aging, living with long-term chronic or terminal illness, or approaching the end of life. Whether you are currently in this role or simply want scaffolding for future scenarios, the afternoon will provide a mix of teaching, guided meditation, and group dialogue, facilitated by two leaders with deep experience in mindfulness-based caregiving.
Roy Remer, Executive Director of Zen Caregiving Project (formerly Zen Hospice Project) and Tracy Tingle, end-of-life Doula and Zen Caregiving Project volunteer, will structure the workshop around Roy’s recently released book, Zen Caregiving: Caring for Yourself While Caring for Others. Together, we will learn about and practice present moment awareness, compassion, impermanence, and gratitude.

Local Economy is a small, flexible community space on the College Avenue stretch of Rockridge, a few doors from East Bay Booksellers. It looks and feels like a bright neighborhood storefront set up for people to gather rather than a traditional venue.
