"This Is Terrible, This Is Wonderful": Postpartum Zine Workshop

Join Iranian American poet Farnaz Fatemi for an all-levels writing workshop focused on the ghazal, a poetic form with deep roots in Iranian culture and tradition. The workshop begins with a brief history of the form and the ways that Persian poets built on its Arab legacy, but will mostly focus on contemporary examples of ghazals as inspiration for the afternoon. This conversation will be followed by guided instruction and generative writing time, culminating in a reading and celebration complete with festive Iranian snacks. Ticket proceeds go directly to the Iranian Red Crescent, the only legal avenue to directly fund relief efforts in Iran.
We are incredibly excited! Ticket proceeds can be funneled to the Iranian Red Crescent through their direct "Complex Emergency 2026."

Local Economy is a small, flexible community space on the College Avenue stretch of Rockridge, a few doors from East Bay Booksellers. It looks and feels like a bright neighborhood storefront set up for people to gather rather than a traditional venue.
