Story Explorers Salon: Stories of Travel & Adventure
September 18, 2026 at Local Economy in Oakland, CA
Local Economy, Oakland, California
An interactive evening of stories, conversation, and community with Liz Morrison
We're all craving more genuine connection, but talking to strangers can feel intimidating. The Story Explorers Salon makes it easy (and actually fun).
Join Strategic Story Coach Liz Morrison for an interactive evening where we use our own stories to skip the small talk and connect around a shared theme: Travel & Adventure.
The trip that went gloriously off the rails. The stranger who became a lifelong friend. The place that changed how you see the world. Travel can be exciting, awe-inspiring, and occasionally a total disaster. Together, through playful games, guided prompts, and the chance to share a story with the group, we'll explore the journeys that shaped us.
No storytelling experience needed, and zero pressure to perform. You'll spend most of the evening in small groups swapping stories sparked by creative prompts, with the option to share with the room if the spirit moves you.
About Liz Morrison
Liz Morrison is a Berkeley-based Strategic Story Coach who spent 15 years telling other people's stories for Bravo, the Obama campaign, and Airbnb. Now she helps people at a crossroads, and teams at companies like Deloitte and Pinterest, use their stories to connect to purpose, communicate with confidence, and lead through change. She was named to Inc.'s 2026 Female Founders 500, and her first book, Be a Story Explorer, comes out in 2027.

Local Economy is a small, flexible community space on the College Avenue stretch of Rockridge, a few doors from East Bay Booksellers. It looks and feels like a bright neighborhood storefront set up for people to gather rather than a traditional venue. Inside, most things are organized around a long central table where talks, workshops, book clubs and game sessions all happen in close quarters. more...
