This year is our 11th annual Crucolo Parade! Join us as we pay homage to one of our favorite Italian cheeses from the Trentino-Alto Adige region.
When: Saturday, Oct. 17 12pm-3pm
Where: Rockridge Market Hall Oakland
Join us outside Rockridge Market Hall on Saturday, Oct. 17, from noon to 3pm, for a day of family-friendly festivities dedicated to Crucolo, an Italian cheese from the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Market Hall Foods is one of two shops in the United States that sells this creamy cow's milk cheese. To celebrate its arrival, our expert cheesemongers, dressed in Italian garb, roll a cart carrying the gigantic Crucolo wheel down Shafter Avenue to live accordion music, dancing and fanfare. The parade starts at noon promptly and ends with a ceremonial cheese cutting and plenty of samples to go around. Last year, we sold half the wheel at our Crucolo event—this year we expect to sell the entire wheel in one day, so if you love Crucolo, be sure to be there to get your piece!

Rockridge Market Hall is a compact food hall in Oakland’s Rockridge neighborhood, right along College Avenue near the Rockridge BART station. It is set up as a cluster of small, owner-operated food businesses under one roof, including a specialty grocery, produce stand, bakery, coffee bar, butcher, seafood counter, wine shop, and florist. The building opens directly to the sidewalk, so foot traffic from the neighborhood and the train station flows through pretty steadily, and it can feel busy at peak hours. more...
