Biscuits And Blues
Biscuits And Blues is a small downstairs blues club right off Union Square, easy to reach from the downtown hotels and transit. You walk in at street level and head down into a low-lit room with a compact stage at one end and rows of two-top and four-top tables facing it. Capacity is on the smaller side, so most seats are close to the band, whether at the main floor tables, along the side banquettes, or up by the bar.

The place runs like a combined restaurant and music room. Doors typically open in the early evening for the first show, with a second set later at night on busier dates. Table service covers drinks and a full menu of Southern-style comfort food, including fried chicken and other classics that match the name on the door. Shows are ticketed with reserved seating, and sets usually run around an hour and a half. The calendar leans heavily into blues in its various forms, with lineups that include touring acts and Bay Area regulars like Alabama Mike, the West Coast Blues Revue, and singer-songwriters such as Jeffrey James.
The club has been part of San Francisco’s blues scene since the mid 1990s, originally opened in 1995 by Mississippi-born chef Regina Charboneau. After a long pandemic closure and flood damage, it reopened in 2024 under new ownership and picked back up with a steady schedule of early and late shows most nights from Friday through Wednesday. Photos on the walls, a blues-themed mural, and framed shots of past performers make it feel like a room with some history rather than a brand-new build.
