Casements Bar is an Irish bar and cocktail spot in the Mission, a short walk from a lot of neighborhood restaurants and late-night food. Inside, it feels more like a comfortable living room than a club, with a long bar, low lighting, and a mix of small tables and couches. The back patio is where most people tend to drift, especially on busy nights. It functions as a beer garden-style space with room for groups, heaters on cooler evenings, and enough separation from the street that you can actually hear whoever you came with.

For events, the place leans into a rotating calendar rather than one fixed scene. Jazz, indie, soul, and DJ nights all show up in the same week. A guitar fusion trio like Ghost Town Messengers might play an afternoon set, then a local favorite like Fidel brings Andean and Mission-rooted sounds on a Tuesday evening. On other nights, Sweet Lew’s indie-soul shows up alongside film screenings, queer community events, and guest DJ collectives. Most performances run on the early side for live music and then slide into DJ sets as the night goes on, so expect a crowd that shifts from after-work drinks to a more dance-friendly vibe.

The bar is the project of three longtime San Francisco industry folks, including two Irish owners who have worked at neighborhood spots like Nickies, Driftwood, and Virgil’s Sea Room. That background shows up in the focus on Guinness and whiskey alongside a fairly detailed cocktail list, plus a layout that handles both casual drop-ins and planned gatherings. If you are heading here for a specific show, the main thing to keep in mind is whether it is set up indoors or out back, since the patio often hosts the bands and DJs when the weather cooperates.
