Cornerstone Craft Beer & Live Music sits in downtown Berkeley, a short walk from the BART station, and functions as both a bar/restaurant and a mid-sized concert room. The main entrance for the music venue is around the corner on Durant, where people usually line up when doors open. Inside, most shows are standing room with limited seating around the edges and on a small mezzanine, so it feels like a typical club show rather than a seated theater.

The room has a proper modern sound and lighting setup and generally clear sightlines from most spots on the floor.

Before and after events, a lot of the action is in the big bar and beer garden area fronting Shattuck. There are two full bars, dozens of beers on tap and a full kitchen doing comfort food, and food can be carried into the venue side. When there is no show, the main room often gets used for games like ping pong and cornhole. The crowd shifts depending on the night: touring bands, reggae and rock acts, themed dance parties like Emo Night Brooklyn or Gimme Gimme Disco, and occasional comedy or smaller local sets on the restaurant’s Shattuck stage. Most events are all ages with a six-and-up minimum unless listed otherwise.

For anyone planning logistics, there is street parking and a few garages in the surrounding downtown area, and it is about three and a half blocks from the Downtown Berkeley BART station. Coat check is offered for some busier or colder nights, and there is a back lounge and courtyard that stays open late for people who want to hang out after the show. Cornerstone opened in 2017 in a converted pool hall space and now fills a fairly typical role as one of the main general-purpose live music spots in downtown Berkeley.
