Crybaby is a midsize nightclub and music venue in Uptown Oakland, right in the cluster of bars and theaters near the Fox. Most nights on the calendar lean into DJ-driven parties, hip hop, R&B, reggaeton, global bass, and themed dance nights like Life of the Party, Desmadre, and Baby Slaps. The main room is built around a big dance floor and a serious sound system, with the booth and stage set up for both DJs and live sets.

It is a 21+ spot, with doors usually opening about an hour before showtime.

There is a small mezzanine that gives a view over the floor, plus an outdoor back patio where smoking and vaping are allowed. Expect typical nightclub lighting, loud volume, and a crowd that is there to dance more than to sit. The place runs on show nights only, so the block is pretty quiet when there is no event and noticeably busy when there is. It is a short walk from 19th St Oakland BART, and people mostly rely on street parking or rideshares if they are driving.

The building used to be the Uptown Nightclub and was reworked into Crybaby around 2022, keeping the same basic footprint with updated design and a new D&B Audiotechnik sound system. Capacity is a few hundred people, so nights can feel packed but still manageable. The venue is part of the newer wave of independent club spaces in downtown, with a mix of local party brands and touring guests rotating through the calendar.
