Rachel Major and Scott Idleman discuss their two person exhibition, ATMOSPHERIC on Saturday, April 11th at 2pm. Though visually distinct, Major’s and Idleman’s practices converge around shared concerns of process, perception, and the dynamic relationship between structure and spontaneity. GearBox Gallery is a small, street-level art space in West Oakland, in the same building as Transmission Gallery. It is an artist-run spot, so the people showing work are also the ones staffing the desk and handling the details. Regular hours are Thursday through Saturday afternoons, with added evening hours on First Fridays, which makes it easy to pair a visit with the Oakland Art Murmur art walk. more...
