Faction Brewing sits out at Alameda Point in a big converted hangar on the old naval air station, in the cluster of tasting rooms people call Spirits Alley. The taproom is wide open and industrial, with high ceilings, long lines of communal tables, and big roll up doors that usually stay open when the weather is decent. Outside there is a large concrete patio facing the water with plenty of picnic tables and heaters.

On clear days the view goes straight across the old runway and bay to the San Francisco skyline and the Bay Bridge.

Most people come earlier in the day for beer and the view, then the crowd shifts into more of an event vibe in the evening. The bar typically has 20 or more Faction beers on draft, from hoppy West Coast styles to lighter options, plus non alcoholic drinks for anyone not drinking. Food is handled by rotating food trucks or pop ups parked nearby, so the exact menu changes. Seating is first come, and it is common to see big groups and dogs spread out on the patio. Parking is in the shared surface lots around the building, which usually have space but can fill up when multiple Spirits Alley spots are busy.

Events range from drag shows like Alameda's Angels to lecture style nights such as Profs & Pints, where a professor will walk through a topic over a couple of hours, to all day dance and breaking battles like Enter the Graveyard that take over a chunk of the patio and taproom. Faction opened in the early 2010s and has been brewing in this former helicopter hangar ever since, so the place mixes a working production brewery feel with the leftover military base layout around it.
