Radium Runway sits out at Alameda Point by the Seaplane Lagoon, on the old naval airfield. The venue is basically an outdoor arts hub set up on the former taxiway, surrounded by wide open concrete, water, and views across the bay toward San Francisco. On show days there is usually a marked entrance, some basic wayfinding signs, and a fenced or roped event footprint.

Sound, lighting, and staging are brought in for each production, so the setup can shift a bit from one event to the next. The site is at the edge of a developing waterfront district, near the ferry terminal and large surface parking lots, so it feels more like a pop-up cultural space than a traditional theater block.

Programming ranges from ticketed productions to community festivals. A big circus cabaret like “The Soiled Dove” can take over the place with a tented big top, supper service, and evening lighting, while something like Filipino Island Fest runs all day with food vendors, live music, and dance, then transitions into a night program. Events can be seated, standing, or a mix, depending on the show. Expect typical outdoor logistics such as portable infrastructure, simple bar or food setups when offered, and weather that can swing from bright sun to strong evening wind, so layers and comfortable shoes matter more here than dressing up.

Radium Runway is operated by the nonprofit Radium Arts as a temporary outdoor performance venue at Alameda Point on the former Naval Air Station. Radium launched the Runway in 2024 to activate this stretch of long-vacant airfield while working toward a permanent 500 seat performing arts center nearby. As a result, the space functions as both a working venue and a testbed, with different layouts and event types cycling through the season as they refine what a future arts district on the site will look like.
